WITH its football theme - and what else in World Cup year - it was fitting that two local soccer sides should scoop the top honours at the year's Milton Keynes Carnival.

Now in its 18th year the event was larger than ever and attracted even more crowds along the city centre route on Sunday.

'Up For The Cup' saw loads of local clubs, sporting groups, charities and organisations exercising their minds but the best Float in the Carnival went to Willen Juniors FC with City Colts runners-up.

Best charity float was MK Twirlers with Hare Krishna runners up as judged by the Mayor of Milton Keynes Cllr Brin Carstens, Citizen Editorial Director Jan Henderson and John O'Donnell head of Radcliffe School. "There are many people involved in bringing the Carnival together each year," said co-organiser Maureen Pruskin, "our thanks to all of them."
