Chakra Criticized for Anti-ritvik Stance
Posted January 29, 2006
It's clear that Chakra.org in regards the ritvik discussion is neither open minded, inclusive, or compassionate. Chakra posts phrases like "the darkness of the ritvik belief", but has abosolutely zero posted concerning the validity of the ritvik veiwpoints historically or otherwise. Therefore the banner for Chakra is misleading.
Krishna.org has posted lengthy articles refering to the history of the hare krsna movement before & after Srila Prabhupada departed. Reading these well written articles and living through the changes in the movement makes the articles come to life with total clarity beyond any shadow of a doubt. The arguments against ritvik are like the changes to Srila Prabhupada's original books; unescesary, juggling of words and verses, and offensive. There is nothing that a ritvik priest could not do for disciples of Srila Prabhupada aside from being worshiped as a guru with arotiks etc. All newcomers should most certainly take a good look at Krishna.org, which is completely ignored by Chakra.org, who proposes to be open minded and inclusive.
Editor's note: Over the last several years, Chakra has posted numerous
articles both for and against the theory of ritvik initiation. There has
been little original thought in this debate in recent years, however;
accordingly, Chakra has placed low emphasis on posting the very few
submissions we have received on this topic. We thank Satyahit prabhu for the
link, and suggest that any readers still interested in this seemingly
endless debate should carry on their discussions at that website.
