Srila Prabhupada's Love for His Disciples
Posted July 25, 2006
Thank you Anumatta Prabhu for such a nice reminder. I have also been reading Srila Prabhupada's correspondence on the Vedabase recently and it is very humbling. It is impossible to understand the depth of Srila Prabhupada's compassion for all living entities, otherwise why would he trouble himself at such an advanced age to come to the west to deliver us. Prabhupada was always trying to engage us in Krsna's service in spite of our protests. He would even tolerate us doing what we wanted just to protect us from the offense of disobedience to him.
We should also show compassion for each other as his disciples and grand disciples. Compassion is not just reserved for those fallen conditioned souls. As neophyte vaishnavas, we depend heavily on the association of other devotees and I have realised this more and more as a member of the congregation of devotees living a fair distance from the temple. We have our jobs and our families who may or may not be as devotional as we would have wished. For myself it is a constant fight with Maya to stay afloat in my spiritual life. Yet somehow Krsna still engages me in some small service and blesses me with the association of compassionate vaishnavas.
For that I am eternally grateful
