Bhagavad-gita changes

Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

For me, the problem with the new translation is like losing an old friend. We spent years living in the temples learning slokas from Bhagavad-Gita As It Is and hearing Srila Prabhupada give classes on the old translations -- and now, suddenly, so much of it is changed. Now I look at the new Bhagavad-gita with somewhat of a distant disposition, knowing that much of what I knew and memorized of it is probably no longer the same.

I guess it's sort of like meeting an old friend from high school who is no longer the same person you knew him to be in the old days. He may or may not be a better person, but nonetheless, the change is there and it affects the relationship.

your servant,
Jyotirmaya das
