National Day of Prayer - Thurs May 6
Posted May 2, 2004
U.S. Devotees may be interested to participate in National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 6.
NDP publicity describes its program as follows, "The National Day of Prayer is an annual event in which millions of Americans unite to pray for our country and leaders."
Although NDP is significantly influenced by the conservative, Christian political agenda, they specifically state that they are open to all faiths.
Many of the prayer meetings are in parks and other public places, so it may be a good opportunity to have a Hari Nam party, and distribute literature to remind people that nationalism is really a form of illusion, since we are not this body, but rather eternal servants of the Supreme Lord. Some possible literature to distribute would be reprints of Prabhupada's pieces from Science of Self-Realization, such as "Christ and Krishna, the Chanting is the Same," and "The Peace Formula." Another good piece would be Urmila Prabhu's recent BTG article "Is God our Servant or our Master."
There are thousands of prayer locations. By refering to the website, you can find the one closest to your temple.
