Gay Rights during Vedic Times

Dear Editor:

I am appalled by Dr. Ashoka Patel's VNN editorial on the status of homosexuals during Vedic Times.

That "sages" would prescribe castration for gays to prevent "deviant" behaviour is unbelivable!

Just what "authority" is Dr. Patel referring to?

The 'learned" sage is supposed to see everyone with an equal and compassionate vision and Krsna says that "if anyone with love gives me a leaf, a flower or water, I accept."

Dr. Patel should realize that cultural practices of a particular era can never be considered spritual truth.
