I Need Help Finding a Quote
Posted April 3, 2006
I need help! I can't remember or find exactly which book it was in, but....
I specifically remember reading in one of Srila Prabhupada's main books, that he thoroughly discussed and instructed that an Acharaya's books should not be changed, especially after he has left the planet. I remember him discussing this in detail, that even if there are mistakes in the book, they should not be changed.
Please, if any devotees know where this instruction is, I would like to see it brought up in this forum.
Also, I have seen many changes that were meant (as admitted to by the more
recent editors) to make Srila Prabhupada's books more "flowing" in terms
of modern english language. For me, a very strong part of knowing Srila
Prabhupada to be present in his books, (and deciding to surrender to
him) came from his direct poking at my heart with his powerful stop-short
language, which has been admittedly tampered with. If I had a vote, I'd
follow his instructions, and keep all the old versions of his books, and if
I wanted to change something, I'd just write my own. That too was his
instruction, to continue writing books in the line of Krishna bhakti.
