My Mother's Death
Posted November 27, 2009
I just wanted to tell all the devotees that my mother left her body Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. Many devotees knew her, and I thought this forum would be ideal to announce her passing.
She was born July 26, 1920 in Commerce, Oklahoma. She lived through the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. Her family migrated to California in search of work when she was 16. She had a very hard life.
She became a very good businesswoman and owned and ran three successful restaurants in Arizona. She was able to retire by the age of 40. My sister and I never did without. Fortunately, she was able to live with us for the last eight years of her life — Krsna's kindness upon all of us.
I feel very sad about her passing, even though she was in her 90th year and even though her passing was very peaceful. She was gone like a little puff of wind.
Being confronted with death is much like being in kirtan. All differences disappear. There is no place for politics or divisions. Even your so-called enemies are wishing you well.
When the devotees are thinking of something, Krsna sees. So writing this for you all to read is very comforting to me. Please pray for my mom.
