Rasa Sittler's Memorial Service
Posted January 1, 2010
After an all too short, four-month battle against cancer, Rasa passed quietly on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 3 pm. She had the comfort of being in her home surrounded by loved ones, and was in the presence of the Lord's name as she took her final breath.
As Rasa lived in two worlds, the first being her German Lutheran upbringing, the second her spiritual initiation to the Gaudîya Vaishnavism of the Brahma-Madhva sampradaya in humble service to His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, there will be two memorial services held in her home on Friday, New Year's Day, January 1, 2010. This may surprise some people, but there are memorials and remembrances occurring all over the world for Rasa. However, in our home we have limited space for those who may wish to attend, so having two services is necessary in an attempt to accommodate those in this immediate vicinity.
The first service will be at 12 noon, conducted by Reverend Jill Carey, Unity minister. This will be the main Christian service where all friends and family are invited.
The second service will be at 3 pm, conducted by Mahamuni dasa, Sumati devi dasi, and her husband Greg. This service will be for devotees of Srila Prabhupada, members of the Bhagavad-gita study class, and disciples of Bhakti Yoga. Both services will be at 13013 Silver Creek Drive, Austin, Texas.
