by Bhakta Kaplish, ISKCON Ludhiana, India

Posted August 18, 2011

The Jhulan Yatra or Swing Festival started in the Sri Sri Jagannath Temple of ISKCON Ludhiana on August 9. This festival is observed in the lunar month of Shravana beginning on Pavitropana Ekadasi; it continues for five days.

In the temple Their Lordships Radha and Govinda are decorated beautifully and seated on a swing decorated with flowers and beads. Devotees swing Their Lordships with an attached rope and chant the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.

Here are some pictures of the beginning of the festival.
