Sri Krishna Janmashtmi festival was celebrated on 14th August 09 at ISKCON, Ludhiana. Every devotee who visited got an opportunity to perform Abhishek. A long queue of people were seen for Darshan and Abhishek. Three stages were set up; one for Abhishek, second for Altar of Sri Sri Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra and third for Kirtana. Altars of Their Lordship were beautifully decorated with flowers. School children performed drama and dance focusing on pastimes of Lord Krishna. Vaisnavis from ISKCON MUMBAI were invited to perform dance and nritya on the devotional songs played in background. A melodious kirtana was recited by devotees of Ludhiana and Delhi. A huge pandal for Japa of Hare Krishna Mahamantra on beads was also organized by the congregation devotees. At midnight there was Maha Abhishek (the great bathing ceremony) of Krishna by temple devotees.
His Grace Rajasuya Das, Temple President, spoke on this occasion that all the saintly people and demigods pray for a birth in the age of
Kali because in this fallen age of Kali it is possible to back to Godhead simply by the chanting of the Holy Names of Krishna. This is the
Supreme gift of Lord Chaitanya, who out of his causeless mercy appears in this world to freely distribute the love of Krishna to people who do not know Krishna. By his loving chanting of the Mahamantra He awakened the sleeping souls in bodies of men, women and animals alike. Later fasting prashadam was distributed to all the devotees.
