Fakir Mohan Prabhu Needs Assistant

The life of Fakir Mohan Prabhu is an extraordinary example of dedication and humility. Even as a child he always ran to the temple, so that in his young age his parents realized that he was made for devotional life, and they offered him to a temple. He comes from a high Brahmin family, and his Guru initiated him with the name "Fakir", the Muslim name for "sadhu". He is always laughing: "Yes, I am just a Fakir, an insignificant beggar."

He is a lifelong brahmacari. Although he studied Sanskrit, is a professor emeritus of Utkal University and published more than 35 books, he stayed a very simple, loving Vaishnava. He was never part of an institution or of a particular group or mission, but has so much love for every soul. Although he was very close to many intimate disciples of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur and other famous Vaishnavas, he never initiated anyone. The songs of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur are deeply rooted in his heart, and he is gives such joyful Hari-katha that the hearts of the devotees will melt. He has suffered five heart-attacks but still travels, and his enthusiasm is never-ending.

He now needs help; he needs a person to stay with him in Orissa. This is an extraordinary opportunity for sadhu-sanga and personal association with an experienced, elderly and really humble Vaishnava. He needs someone to assist him in his last days; he is now 85. He is still publishing books, helping to rediscover many old Vaishnava places in Orissa and really wants to open a small temple in Choti, the place of Bhaktivinoda Thakur's ancestors.
