Reviving Preaching in US
Posted November 7, 2009
As we all know, giving Krsna consciousness to others is most pleasing to Srila Prabhupada, Sri Guru and Gauranga and to the previous acaryas. I am an ISKCON devotee in good standing, initiated by H.H. Bhakti Caru Swami. Inspired by Srila Prabhupada's mood and his dedication to preaching activities all over the world, I have been doing college preaching for the last 15 years in the U.S. I have also been involved in some business activity which supports the preaching and myself.
Lately Krsna revealed a very simple concept to bring young college students to Krsna consciousness through cooking classes. After the cooking class we do yoga dance (kirtan) and serve prasadam. Attending class is optional for students. For the last seven weeks we have had 20 to 25 students attending to our program.
I wish to organise such preaching programs all over Florida. It would be nice to expand this preaching potential to other cities such as Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami, etc. I have a business that can help devotees make money, but I would prefer to do this for dedicated devotees who are preaching-oriented. I am making a humble attempt to reach out to the wide devotee community and leaders for devotees who want to dedicate themselves to preaching in the U.S., especially in colleges.
I am very interested in helping to organise this preaching. One idea would be to make parties of men and women who would travel to different universities, set up book tables, do kirtan, distribute prasad and perhaps perform theatre. This would be just a humble beginning of reviving preaching in different universities in Florida.
I am looking for all kinds of help — books, financial aid, instruments, devotees, cooks and guidance — anything that can help in the travelling preaching service. Perhaps you have a diorama sitting at home that could be used for preaching, or even Deities whom you are not worshipping. If there is any way you would like to help, inspire, assist, lead or be involved, please write to me at Yogafru@aol.com.
