Meeting with President Obama

On June 13, 2011 His Holiness Radhanath Swami met with United States President Barack Obama at an event in Miami, Florida. Radhanath Swami was grateful to accept the invitation on behalf of his beloved guru, Srila Prabhupada, and he dedicated the meeting to his beloved godbrother, H.H. Bhakti Tirtha Swami. The President and the Swami had what he described as "a beautiful, heartfelt talk" for several minutes.

Meeting with President Patil

In the previous year Radhanath Swami had also met with the President of India, Ms. Pratibha Patil. Maharaj suggested that the two meetings signalled "an auspicious spiritual connection" between the USA and India.

In addition to meeting the world leaders of the present, Radhanath Maharaj is also committed to meeting leaders and managers of the future, hoping to imbue them with a keen sense of values and ethics. On June 20, for example, he gave a talk to a group of students, professionals and entrepreneurs at Harvard University.

His topic was the need for values education in the school system, and he declared that certain common values underlay every great religion: to love God, to love each other and to see every living entity with equal vision. Successful leaders, he said, "irrespective of their field or title, must have this equal vision if they are going to lead with integrity." With compassion and forbearance, he added, each of us can be "agents of change, instruments of grace, and embody the qualities of a true leader."

Born in the USA, Radhanath Maharaj is the author of The Journey Home: Autobiography of an American Swami.
