Sridhar Swami's passing was glorious
Posted March 16, 2004
As we posted earlier the sad news about the passing away of HH Sridhara Swami on this auspicious Appearance day of Srivas Pandit, in the holiest of all places, Sri Mayapura Dham, I would like to add a few more details.
Sridhar Maharaja was conscious and looking at pictures of all the Deities and of Srila Prabhupada as he left his body.
He had not been feeling so well yesterday (14th) during the night. When I saw him a few days ago, speaking by phone with HH Radhanath Swami, he confirmed to me that he would like to go to the West again to preach, since he was feeling better now. But Krsna had other plans. Yesterday Maharaja received the World Excellence award from the hands of HH Bhaktiswarupa Damodara Swami for his preaching and service to his beloved Guru Maharaja, His Divine Grace A.C. Bkaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Sridhar Swami felt very fortunate to be in Mayapura during the Sri Panca Tattva Deities installation, as Krsna fulfilled his desire to be with his godbrothers and godsisters -- and all the Vaishnavas -- in this important festival and during the Gaura Purnima festival. Leaving the body in Mayapura is only for the most fortunate souls who will go back to serve the Lotus Feet of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu and the Panca Tattva Bhagavan.
A few days back I gave Maharaja a poster of Him garlanding Lord Nityananda during the installation ceremony after abhisheka, and he told me that it was the most astonishing and best picture of him doing any service to the Lord and he especially wanted to bathe Lord Nityananda.
Sridhar Swami had an amazing and very beautiful deity of Lord Narasimha deva; he told me once that all the devotees should have pictures of this Narasimha Sila and have darsan of the Protector of the Devotees. May Lord Nityananda and Lord Narasimha deva shower their mercy and protection on His Holiness.
We hope devotees would chant extra rounds for this occasion -- a very auspicius day, since it is also the appearance day of Srivas Pandit, as mentioned earlier.
HH Jayapataka Swami gave instructions by telephone regarding the ceremonies to perform and is planning to come from Rajamundri, which is seven hours away from the nearest airport (since he is with the South India safari tour). We hope his desire to be here with his dear godbrother will be realized and that flights and connections are possible.
HH Sridhara Swami will be taken at 10:45 am to the temple to take darsan from all the Deities and Srila Prabhupada and at 11:00 am will be in front of the Panca Tattva Temple during the Abhisheka to Srivas Pandit and at 3:00 pm he will be entombed near the samadhis of His Divine Grace A.C. Bkaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, HH Tamal Krsna Goswami and HH Gaura Govinda Goswami.
When, a few days ago, I had showed him the picture of the three samadhis together in the Mayapur photo exhibition, he was able to joke, "Oh yes, I will be a neighbor of Tamal Krsna Maharaja."
The Glorification Ceremony was observed later today.
