World Holy Name Week
Posted September 24, 2008
World Holy Name Week (September 13th-21st) was celebrated by
ISKCON, Ludhiana with great devotion and dedication. In the temple devotees
took turns to chant Hare Krishna Maha-mantra from morning till evening daily
from Sep 13 thru 20th.
On the concluding day, it being Sunday, we had
Harinaam Nagar Sankirtan early morning at 6.00 am, which passed through
thickly populated area of Ludhiana and approx. 500 people participated. His
Grace Vidurpriya dasa, Co- Temple President, emphasized the need of chanting
holy name in this age of Kali.
In his lecture he told the congregation
that the first and last principle in devotional service is to chant the Hare
Krishna Maha-mantra that liberates the mind from ignorance. Everyone
present thoroughly relished the chanting of Hare Krishna Mahamantra, and
acknowledged & owed their indebtedness to the sacrifice by Srila Prabhupada
on the anniversary of his reaching USA in 1965.
