Every year the neighbors of the Dallas temple are treated to the Rathayatra parade featuring Lord Jagannatha, Lady Subhadra and Lord Balarama riding on a festive cart pulled by 500 devotees. They travel through a mile and a half of densely populated city streets. Devotees give packaged prasadam to the many lucky bystanders. At the end of the journey there is a large stage and decorations at Kalachandji park.
This year guest speaker HH Giriraj Swami spoke of the glories of Rathayatra as heard from Srila Prabhupada. Afterwards there was entertainment for everyone, a dreamy puppet show by Narattama, Bharatanatyam dancing and splendid bhajans . A Jagannath-prasadam feast was served with subjis, sweets and much more. There was a book table; several booths with sweets, pizza, aratik plates, ice cream and cold drinks; and free face painting for kids.
Between 500 and 600 people attended the park ceremonies and received the causeless mercy of Lord Jagannatha.
