Festival of Holi, March 29th
Posted March 7, 2008
Spanish Fork Utah would like to extend a cordial invitation to all devotees from North America to visit the weekend of Holi celebrations, March 29. We offer shelter, service, lots of prasadam and the opportunity to participate in a massive kirtan.
Last year 3,000 college students chanted and danced for hours. Many out of state students who board at Brigham Young University (30,000 students, 7 miles away) and Utah Valley University (28,000 students, 8 miles away) said it was the most fun they have ever had in Utah.
The vast majority of those who came had never been to a Krishna Temple before, never chanted Hare Krishna, yet, having heard of the festival's reputation from their friends, they came fully prepared to dive into the oceanic nectar of the Holy Names.
There is no counting the number of students who will return this year and bring their friends. There'll be cooking for days to prepare enough prasadam.
We have packed 10,000 bags of colors (gulal) ourselves and imported another 10,000 from India. Before the lighting of the two story bonfire, the throwing of the colors and the hours long kirtan, we'll have a full cultural program with Indian dance and drama.
To make the best impression we can and to ensure the most ecstatic kirtan, we humbly invite all devotees, and especially those who are musically talented, to come for the SANKIRTAN PARTY Saturday March 29.
