Fall Festivals in Alachua Florida
Posted July 26, 2004
The fall festival season in New Raman Reti, Alachua Florida, will begin this year on Aug 28. Please be sure to attend Alachua's famous and elaborate festivals. Due to the large population of resident devotees, over 600, we have plenty of helping hands and association. We generally attract hundreds of devotees from all over the southeastern United States. His Holiness Lokanatha Maharaja will be giving a week long discourse on Srimad Bhagavatam, beginning with Krsna's pastimes in Vrndavana, up to the killing of Kamsa. The series will include devotional songs, and dramas, and will go from Aug. 28 through Sept. 4.
Sri Balarama's Appearance Day is Aug. 29, and will be celebrated with a midday feast, a drama, and breaking a honey pot in the evening. Janmastami is on Sept. 6, and our Lordships Sri Sri Radha Syamasundara and Gaura Nitai will be offered two beautiful new outfits, and will be offered 56 preparations at 11:30 pm. As usual we will have an interesting array of vendor booths, creating additional atmosphere for the festival.
Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja is Sept. 7, and there will be an offering of 201 preparations. On both Janmastami and Vyasa Puja there will be abhiseks with water from 1008 holy rivers-using silver and gold kalashes.
We will be having a three day festival this year to celebrate Radhastami. It will be Sept. 19 through Sept. 21. There will be a boat festival, offering Chota Radha Syama a ride on the lake on the evening of the 19th, at 8:00 pm. On the 21st, there will be two new outfits offered to the Deities, and darshan of Srimati Radharani's lotus feet will be at 7:30 pm.
On behalf of all the assembled devotees here in Alachua, we would like to invite everyone to come. Hope to see you here!
