Global Vedic Village
Posted December 20, 2004
You've probably heard about the monster Prabhupad Festival we're staging at Cross Maidan in downtown Bombay, February 12 - 20. In keeping with the theme: "Global Krishna: Prabhupad's Legacy Lives!" there will be a huge tent called the "Global Vedic Village," to exhibit graphically Srila Prabhupad's unique international impact.
This tent is separated into geographic areas where ISKCON branches from around the world can display their individual activities, such as Temples, Farms, Food for Life, Cow Protection, Schools, Prison Programs, Restaurants, or whatever activities go on in different places. It's also a great forum for new projects, such as the Moscow and Mayapur building projects. We expect somewhere between 20 to 50,000 people per day to see these displays!
"Display" means anything from a full-on model, to a promotional video or DVD if you have one, or a power-point presentation, or simply a set of enlarged photos (with captions), like that. If you have a brochure or other literature about your Temple or program, these can be distributed (we can even have more printed here in India if you send the art-work.) This is not a commercial enterprise so nothing will be sold in the Global Vedic Village.
Ideally, there would be one or two devotees from your Temple to man your exhibit, but in some cases, if no one's going to be here, we can find devotees here who can pass out literature, show the video or power-point, or answer simple questions. Even just a stand-alone unmanned photo display will suffice, with some sort of write-up in large easy-to-read print.
We humbly request each of you Temple Presidents to let us know as soon as possible if you would like to showcase your particular ISKCON activity in the Global Vedic Village in some way: tangible proof that Srila Prabhupad is indeed the greatest spiritual messenger of modern times!
All glories to all of your wonderful world-wide services to Srila Prabhupad!
