New York celebrates the Bhagavad-gita
Posted December 5, 2003
On Sunday, December 7, 2003, New York ISKCON will be celebrating the day when the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna spoke the Bhagavad-gita to his dearest friend Arjuna, on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra, more than 5000 years ago.
In the Bhagavad Gita, the sincere reader will be able to gain access to the supreme spiritual science of Krishna Consciousness. This knowledge was made available to the western world, exactly as Lord Krishna spoke it, by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, when he published the Bhagavad-gita As It Is.
At Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir, to commemorate this occasion, there will be a Gita Maha-yajna fire sacrifice, in which the devotees will be chanting some of the principal verses of the Bhagavad-gita, while the priests offer oblations to the sacred fire.
Furthermore, this Sunday will provide a chance for all devotees and friends to purchase large quantities of Bhagavad-gita As It Is at wholesale prices for mass distribution. This book makes the perfect gift for the holidays, as it will be able to enlighten and uplift the consciousness of anyone and everyone who reads it. Also, you will be able to sponsor Bhagavad-gitas which will be distributed on your behalf to the person(s) whom you may designate.
Please join us, starting at 6:00 pm, for this wonderful festival.
