Temporary Hospice in Vrindavana Changes Hands
Posted June 12, 2007
As some of you may already know, HG Yadunandana Prabhu (ACBSP) from Los Angeles, California (U.S.) began a successful temporary hospice program in the holy dhama of Vrindavana to accommodate the needs of dying devotees until the time the permanent hospice facility is completed.
Several months ago, Yadunandana Prabhu was inspired to turn over the responsibility of the temporary hospice project to Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. Thanks to everyone's cooperation, especially the devoted monthly donors, the transition has proven to be a success. Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. Treasurer, Nirakula dasi, is now collecting the donations from the same PayPal account and the donations continue to support the "hospice apartment" which is situated behind the MVT complex. This apartment, owned by Her Grace Pranada dasi, will continue to be rented by Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. and used for homecare hospice patients whenever needed.
In the meantime, the permanent hospice building is nearing completion and is expected to open within a year. However, even after the doors to the Bhaktivedanta Hospice open, this "hospice apartment" will still be made available for those devotees who wish to be cared for in a private apartment with visits from the professional home hospice team from the Bhaktivedanta Hospice. Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. plans to completely furnish the apartment in order to make it more comfortable for our devotee patients and families and to create a more Krsna conscious ambiance within its walls. The apartment is a large studio apartment with a kitchen and private bath. It also has A/C for the hot summer months. Through the mercy of our generous donors, Vaisnavas C.A.R.E. will continue to pay the rent in order to offset some of the expenses of the terminally ill devotees and their families. In addition, we will do our best to raise other funds to help pay for the patient's medications and other expenses as we are able.
We are humbly asking those donors who previously gave to this important project to please continue to send in your monthly donations. Rest assured that 100% of the money will continue to be used in the service of the terminally ill devotees.
For those who wish to join us and become a part of this much-needed service, kindly visit: www.buddhiyoga.org to pledge your donation.
