We would like to announce the upcoming opening of the Vaisnava Abuse Recovery Groups (VSARG.ORG), an on-line service providing secure discussion forums for devotees who suffered from sexual, emotional, or physical abuse, either within ISKCON or outside of it.

On VSARG you can reveal your heart and find understanding, support, strength and hope for your emotional and spiritual recovery.

As part of the ISKCON Counseling Initiative, this project will provide information on the destructive influences of abuse and the obstacles abuse poses for spiritual life. It will also be a resource for various methods of healing, aiming to aid the treatment and prevention of abuse within ISKCON. Mahavisnupriya Dasi, a professional counselor who has worked for the past twenty years with abuse victims and is the head of the Alachua Child Protection Team, will counsel on the site.

Opening date: July 10, 2006.

A few legal clarifications are required regrading the Vaisnava Abuse Recovery Group (VSARG.ORG), an on-line service that will provide secure discussion forums for devotees who suffered from sexual, emotional, or physical abuse, either within ISKCON or outside of it.

Please know that although the content of the website will be, to some extent, in relation to ISKCON, it has no legal connection with ISKCON whatsoever.

Different members of the Counseling Initiative encourage the development of this website, but both projects (the Counseling Initiative and VSARG) are not legally connected in any way to each other, or to ISKCON. The two sites will have internet hypertext links to each other, and are not responsible for any content given outside their own website through links.

In addition, VSARG is meant to be a well-wishing supporting place that may assist in the alleviation of emotional distress. However, it cannot replace individual therapy.

We wish that we didn't have to post such clear legal distinctions, and that the world could be a simple place without unnecessary legal complications. But this world is not a simple place at all, and this is actually why we want to have this website on-line.
