Hare Krishna Prabhus. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
We have established a nonprofit organization in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area. The organization name is "They Call Us Friends, Inc. We received approval from the IRS for tax exempt and that is a 501C3 status on February 1. The organization was approved for a) basic educational training, b) a referral agency, c) feeding/sheltering the homeless, and d) prison ministry.
We would like to extend an invitation to any open minded, team player, creative, and independent devotee who can work in a multicultural environment. to come on board as paid staff to work with us. I realize some of you may feel because you spent most of your work hours working in temples you may not have sufficient qualifications. That is far from the truth; however there are some positions which will require some educational background.
I have over 16 years working with large nonprofit organizations; therefore I can be of some assistance with your resumes if need be.
To start, we plan to house about 40 women with/without children in the shelter. From our research we've learned more funding is currently available for women shelters in this location. In our training department we will offer courses in substance abuse, computers, financial management, basic health, etc.
Our training department will be available not only for the women we shelter but to any homeless individual who needs assistance. We will have a small thrift store and pantry. Anyone homeless may purchase items with cash or vouchers. We will have a small daycare center for the infants thru age 4. We will conduct small conferences in the areas of health and the environment, our targeted audience will be parents, the public school system, and local community organizations.
A fee will be required to attend the conference. Not only will we serve prasadam to the sheltered women and children we will also have meals on wheels to serve other homeless and senior citizens. I hope you now have a general idea of what we're trying to do.
Some of the needed paid positions are either full time or part time they are:
- Project Coordinator (full time),
- Administrative Assistant (full time),
- Communications/Marketing/Web Design (full time),
- Counselors (degree required 1 full time and 1 part time),
- Chef (2 full time and 2 part time assistants),
- Store Manager (part time), and
- Daycare Center Coordinator (degree required full time and 2 part time helpers).
We need your resumes no later than April 1 due to grant proposal deadlines. In addition to your resume, please let us know what you have to offer in building this organization. If you feel all areas are not covered by all means let us know. Unfortunately we have located no funds for prison ministry for paid positions. The future plan is to open a prison ministry aftercare program, then paid positions will be available.
Since we will solicit funds from the government all staff will more than likely not be devotees. We at least want the above mentioned positions staffed by devotees and definitely the cooks. Our future plan is to expand outside the state of Georgia in order for that to happen we must first build a strong foundation here . We will offer medical benefits. You must be a U.S. citizen.
Please seriously think about this, we need you. This is an opportunity for us to build an organization to help the needed and allowing the public to see us in a different circle. My contact information is below.
Thanks for your time. Haribol.
