ITV seeks subtitle translators for Prabhupada video library
Posted April 4, 2004
We sold out! Yes, we've completely exhausted the first replication of 1000 sets of the Srila Prabhupada DVD Library. Demand has been outstripping supply. We are ecstatic. Except we are out of sets. However, we are temporarily remedying that problem by having another 500 sets produced from the original glass masters. So you can still put in your order with no problem. But our next replication is aimed at a wider audience.
ITV will be making another replication of the Srila Prabhupada DVD Library in about 120 days. That means that you have the possibility of submitting translations within the next 90 days to have them included in the new edition. We estimate that there won't be another replication for at least two years or more, so we hope devotee translators will come forward very soon. I encourage you to organize a team to translate the subtitles that are now all located at www.itvproductions.net/subtitles. There is also a spreadsheet which shows which lectures/programs have been translated into various languages. You can see at a glance what needs to be done in your language.
Anyway, I can only encourage you to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Think of having all of Srila Prabhupada -- as he is -- no editing, no question about what he said, a fully realized soul speaking directly through the medium of video -- presented in the language of your congregation.
Please, don't delay. Create an intention to get the job done. Make a
plan. Enroll people in your objective. You'll be amazed at how
Krishna will make arrangements once He sees that you are determined.
We all have experience of Lord Caitanya's special favor upon those who
try to glorify Him. Carpe diem! We will kick in all the work
laying in the subtitles -- and that's no small task. So get started!
