Conflict Transformation amongst Vaisnavas
by Braja Bihari das
Posted September 27, 2004

I decided to start a blog about Conflict Transformation amongst Vaisnavas. That may sound like a rather narrow topic, but when you think about it, it's not so at all. Think of all of the times you have talked about some conflict amongst devotees. What about the times when you were at odds with another devotee? Didn't that take up a lot of your mental energy? Web sites are full of this or that disagreement & and often nothing is resolved out of all that fiery keyboarding. (Click here for the full article)

Child Protection Office Response to Vrndavana Allegations
by Tamohara das
Posted September 24, 2004

As Bhima Karma has posted his opinions about the Vrndavana situation, as Director of the ISKCON Central Office of Child Protection, I wanted to publish the letter I sent to him a few days ago, after I first heard his charges. I think this makes it clear that the Child Protection Office is very concerned about the charges and will investigate. On the other hand, we need to do this in a fair a level-handed manner. For the record, the Vrndavana Child Protection team has, in fact, kept the CPO well informed regarding any abuse cases at the gurukula. (Click here for the full article)

Can a child molester come to an ISKCON temple?
by Bhagavat das
Posted September 7, 2004

My name is Bhagavat Das. I am twice initiated by Srila Prabhupada and I have been around since 1969. My wife Radha and I have also been licensed foster parents for the last 7 years. We have taken care of close to 70 children in our home during that time, many of them physically and sexually abused. My experience has put me in a position of understanding to some extent the plight of the Gurukulis. I deeply sympathize with their dissatisfaction with the the way ISKCON has handled the situation. If ISKCON had followed at least the first example Srila Prabhupada set for us in this regard we would at least have made an important statement to the children that we did not tolerate child abuse. 3rd-gender not equal to pedophilia
by Mukunda Gauranga das
Posted September 28, 2004

Pranam and dandavat. Jaya Srila Prabhupada! I am very sad to read about the possible abuse. However, I did not really like the tone you used in your article linking 3rd-gendered people with pedophilia. I have a 3rd-gendered (bisexual) material condition. I was born like that. This condition "enables" me to be attracted both physically and emotionally to people from both gender. Am I lower, higher, in- between? I do not know and frankly do not care. Sexual orientation or bodily distinctions have no link with pedophilia which is a mental disease. (Click here for the full article)

My mother's auspicious passing away
by Isani dasi

Hare Krsna. My name is Isani dasi. I have been trying to be a devotee for 19 years. When I first took to Krsna Consciousness I told my mother it was sinful to eat meat so she gave it up and never again ate meat. I gave her a bead bag and some beads and she would occasionally chant when my family visited. She was very favourable, loved prasadam, and would read Krsna Book as a bedtime story to my children when they were younger. Over the years she met many devotees and would always ask after their children. My mother even met Satsvarupa Maharaja, Tribuvanatha, and Kripa Moya from the Manor, whom she regularly referred to. Prisoners helping prisoners
by Shyamapriya dasi

Many times people ask us why we are helping people in prison. "They committed the crime; why not let them do the time?"

But we see that we are all prisoners in this material world. Some of us are in a state or federal prison; some of us are in the prison of our minds, or a physically disabled body; but just to have a material body is a type of prison. We have no freedom to enjoy all our insatiable desires. (Click here for the full article)

About All-Inclusiveness, Not Sex

Articles on "sexuality":
a call for discretion

by Jnananda das
Posted September 23, 2004

Krishna is all-loving, compassionate beyond words in my opinion. Yet I suggest you approach articles on sex with discretion. I recently read in the third Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam page 115 a commentary by Prabhupada stating, "the homosexual appetite of a man for another man is demoniac and is not for any sane male in the ordinary course of life." Each person makes their own choice on such matters. Also Prabhupada in other sources emphasizes the need for people to transcend the animal levels, that sex is for producing Krishna conscious children. In today's world sex is so blatant and hyped as the center of everyone's consciousness, yet there is so much more!
