Goloka-dhama in emergency!!!
by Gaura-siromani das
Posted May 27, 2004

Haribol, dear Devotees!
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Sacinandana Maharaja and Manjulali Dasi asked me to write this letter on behalf of Sri Sri Radha-Madana-mohana and the Goloka-dhama community. As you may know, the passing away of our head-pujari Goloka Prabhu has not only plunged us into deep grief, but also has brought a most precarious situation to our pujari crew. Goloka Prabhu was such an unprecedented pujari in terms of service capacity, spiritual realization and attitude that it seems we need at least three or more pujaris to replace him and support those devotees who now serve Sri Sri Radha-Madana-mohana. Eulogy for Kritakarma Prabhu
by Dhanistha dasi

I want to thank you so much for sending me the notice of the passing of my dear friend and Godbrother Krita Karma. He was my first personal and human recognitions of a softer side of love among devotees when I entered the old San Francisco temple on Valencia Street in 1973. He would bring me a huge plate full of halavah and 8 or 9 puris along with many sweets every night for two weeks after Bhagavad Gita classes to take home with me. Walking through the packed room of devotees, he would hold the plates high above his head to keep others from grabbing the maha. (Click here for the full article)

Only the unattainable guru makes no mistakes
by Ananda das
Posted May 29, 2004

With Zachary Sunderman ("To be a Guru") I read the straightforward letter from my elder godbrother Satsvarupa das Goswami on the Chakra web site. My reaction, however, was different from Mr. Sunderman's. I appreciate that he has written with respect and affection, whilst pointing out that, in his opinion, any stain of imperfection would disqualify a guru from his or her teaching position. "If the guru turns out to be a normal human being, then there's no gain in being his disciple," he writes. (Click here for the full article)

Was Iraq invasion a war, or murder?
by Niscala dasi
Posted May 19, 2004

Certainly Jaya Govinda das is right -- risky or horrible situations help us to rely more on Krsna's protection. However, the present-day situation of war is far more perilous spiritually for a soldier than in the day of Kuruksetra. Many thousands of innocent children, women, old men, and people unwilling to fight are being caught in the crossfire, or by explosions of bombs, grenades and so forth. To kill even one innocent human life is the greatest sin. (Click here for the full article)

Aside from the website Jaya Govinda das cited (www.objector.org), in his helpful article, here is a list of other sites that may be helpful to this discussion. Karl Nelson's book By reason of religious training and belief, a balanced history of conscientious objection during the Vietnam War era, is available for online reading, although the hard-return formatting creates problems if your browser is set to a large type size. Mother Cow

I have read the recent letters regarding the mother cow website and would like to offer my view.

This cow "protection" project is clearly flawed because it is not in anyway focused on protecting the cows, but only on making money by selling milk. It is a milk selling venture that has nothing to do with cow protection. Otherwise how can they explain the fact that all of the bulls (which should number around 20 so far) have been "donated" to another goshalla?! Aren't they themselves supposed to be a goshalla?
