New Audio Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita Website by Dwarakadisa dasa UK Posted March 30, 2008 Back in the mid 1990's Bhagavat-Asraya prabhu (ACBSP) recorded a charming abridged audio rendition of "Prabhupada, your ever well-wisher" by H.H.Satsvarupa Dasa. It was never widely distributed and remained in my studio archive until I edited it into 8 parts for inclusion on my weekly radio programme "Nectar of Devotion" which airs each Sunday morning on NuSound Radio 92fm in London. We had such a good response from listeners that it was decided to add "The Audio Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita" to the Nectar of Devotion website archive page. In doing so I felt it might be nice to create a very simple, seperate website for the Lilamrita. The result is www.lilamrita.page.tl Teacher Wanted At New Raman Reti, Florida by Tamohara das Posted March 29, 2008 The New Raman Reti School (NRRS), a Krishna-centered elementary school, located in the Alachua, Florida devotee community, is seeking applicants for the position of an experienced elementary school teacher. Learned Vaishnava Departs in Vrindavan by Sri Yogesh Goswami Posted March 27, 2008 In the early morning hours during this year's Vasant Panchami festival (February 11, 2008), my father Sriman Madhva-Gaudeshvar- acharya Bimal Chandra Goswami left his body in a hospital in Vrindavan, India. During a condolence meeting on the grounds of Sri Sri Radha Raman Temple in Sri Dham Vrindaban, many devotees and well-wishers paid tributes with all dignity. Golokavasi-acharya Sri Bimal Chandra Goswamiji was surely called back to Goloka by Shri Radha Raman Lal to serve Krishna over there. Here are some points that might be useful to consider. Most large-scale modern farms treat their animals cruelly. Cows are injected with massive doses of antibiotics and growth hormones, and they are crammed into very small spaces. A lot of them get crippled because their legs can't hold their unnatural weight due to the growth hormones, and many become diseased because of their living conditions. These are very stressful conditions, and stress is known to produce toxins within the body. Spotlight: The Making of Srila Prabhupada After the visual tour-de-force of deity meditation that was Darsana, it made sense to the Mediterranean BBT that their next book should be about the person who gave us darsana: Srila Prabhupada. When the BBT trustees responded, "Why do we need another book of Prabhupada pictures?" photographer Nitya-tripta Dasi set out to show them by searching through every photo of Prabhupada available. This book had to be like nothing that had been done before. It would be a deep, personal meditation, boasting a unique selection that would keep the viewer feeling fresh on every page. "I had to select 193 photos out of about 90,000," says Nitya-tripta matter-of-factly. A Winding Path to Straight-Edge Life by Sukhada das Posted March 31, 2008 About 12 years ago my friend Brian and I were staying up late, smoking pot and flipping though channels. As we scrolled though various channels we caught sight of what looked to be a punk-rock concert. Kids were stage diving, and a bald-headed singer on stage was singing. We thought we had stumbled across something pretty awesome, and the scene quickly changed. Now we were watching George Harrison sing a song we had never heard before. Still accepting this as "cool" for a show on public access in the middle of the night, the channel stayed on. Shortly after Mr. Harrison's feature was over, we were bombarded with a bunch of shaved heads, kartals and people in orange outfits. The Vanipedia team draws great inspiration and strength (to succeed in the long voyage we have undertaken) from the single-minded faith and conviction that giving Srila Prabhupada this wonderful platform to preach, teach, and train could very well become the most uniting principle that all of his followers could ever hope to experience. Janakinath Has Left Us by Varnadi das Posted March 18, 2008 It is with sadness in my heart that I am informing the worldwide vaishnava community that Janakinath (Joseph Streb), a disciple of Srila Prabhupada living in Alachua, has left his body last Saturday in a hospital in Orlando from complications of liver disease. His passing came suddenly and I want to ask all of you to kindly extend your prayers and blessings to this humble soul, as well as to his surviving spouse, Vrindavan dd. Since this only happened recently, details about Janakinath's life and passing are to follow at a later time. Alternatives for Vegans by Niscala dasi Posted March 16, 2008 I used to think it was very hard to go vegan, as I was particularly addicted to creamy tastes and especially ice cream, as well as curd, etc. Then I discovered what a humble banana could do when it was blended with soy milk, as well as how much better tasting than milk are some of the soy milks you can get. I must confess I got totally addicted to soy milk and started drinking massive quantities of it, which caused me some health problems, so don't go that route! Rice milk is much safer if you happen to be a huge milk-alternative consumer, like me. I don't think you could overdose on it at all, as it is just rice and water and vegetable oil, basically. Soy milk is the one for taste though. (Click here for the full article) Invitation to Goura Purnima From Murari Sevaka Farm by Murari Sevaka Farm Posted March 15, 2008

Should I try to paste it with carpenter glue and fill it, or should I return it to Vrindavan and get another from the vendor? Please advise. Also could any Sanskrit editor out there translate the 10 verses of Sri Dasavatara-stotra for me please? Number 4--Narahari--as you know is already given in the Vaisnava Song Book, so I need only 10. Please state the vibhakti of each word. Finally, why is it that we don't celebrate the appearance day of Lord Buddha if He is Krishna? I certainly don't know everything. Children's Harinam Team in Mayapur by Ila devi dasi Posted March 6, 2008
On Saturday 1 March the young kirtaneers had their first Harinam in public around Srila Prabhupada's Samadhi and the Grhastha area. A flat rikshaw was used to seat the leaders and mrdanga players (drums can be really heavy to carry) whilst the others followed, carrying colourful flags. Turns were made to give everyone who wanted a chance to lead the chanting, and parents were pleased to hear how sweet the voices of their children are. Alternative ISKCON Bylaws by Dharini dasi (ACBSP, Attorney) Portland, Oregon Posted March 31, 2008 As a loyal ISKCON devotee, I've expressed a grave concern that the GBC-sponsored bylaws expose individual temples to lawsuits elsewhere in ISKCON and recommended that temples consult with local attorneys. Recently, the said bylaws were submitted to an attorney who has been practicing in the area of non-profit corporations for over 30 years. I joined a conference call to hear his assessment. He explained that the by-laws dangerously expose the temple to getting needlessly dragged into other ISKCON lawsuits. As his grandmother approached the end of her life, Samba retrieved the boxes and has had them for five years. He is currently cataloging the contents of the boxes. The collection of letters that Hayagriva had are from Srila Prabhupada to himself and his wife Shyama, as well as some to Kirtanananda and a few others. If you have information, please contact me at : idl1000@hotmail.com Official Response to Malati Devi Dasi by Mathura das & Kirtanananda Swami Posted March 25, 2008 Please consider this letter in response to Malati devi dasi's post "Kirtanananda Status" dated 16 March, 2008. Kirtanananda Swami does not in any manner represent himself or disciples as members of ISKCON. Kirtanananda Swami does not seek out, canvas for or recruit disciples from the before mentioned organization. He has not been invited to rejoin ISKCON and does not wish to be in a situation where he is not welcome. Kirtanananda Status by Malati Devi dasi Posted March 16, 2008 There seems to be confusion about the status of Kirtanananda das in ISKCON these days. Please refer to the following. In 1996 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996, before Kirtanananda's retrial was completed, he pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering (mail fraud). He was sentenced to 20 years in prison but was released on June 16, 2004. [18] Click Here. On September 10, 2000, the ISKCON Child Protection Office concluded a 17-month investigation and determined that Kirtanananda had molested two boys. Yes, the farm is scarcely populated, the fields fallow. Sure, there is no devotee school. The winters are long and daunting. And of course, it is located in the middle of nowhere, far from people and employment. So, want to buy my house? I have to say, it is a good one. Approx. 3,000 sq. ft. on 2 lush acres. Are vegans morally superior? No, they are not; they choose a different dietary program. I like milk; I drink organic milk and consume a balanced amount of dairy products. Prabhupada seemed to be okay with milk, despite the fact that it is infused with vitamin D. Krishna apparently likes milk too. Think of how much milk is used around the world cooking Him mangal arotik sweets. I understand the passion and the necessity for cow protection, but people should choose whatever diet benefits them. Bhakti Begets Bhakti by Srila das Posted March 5, 2008 As stated in my previous article, bhakti is revealed truth:
yasya deve para bhaktir yatha deve tatha gurau "Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual master are all the imports of Vedic knowledge automatically revealed." [Svetasvatara Upanisad 6.23] 'Revelation' implies that bhakti is both confidential and concomitantly empirical. 'Confidential' conveys the idea of entrusting something secret by one agent (guru and Krsna) to someone else (the bhakta or devotee). 'Empirical' here means that, because yoga is a process of realization, theoretical principles must be verified by personal experience in order to be known as truth subjectively (jnana-vijnana-samanvitam, SB 2.9.31). This is a life science term that can be effectively applied to the development of Chaitanya Vaishnav Spiritual Associations or Communities. Allometry [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allometry] is the study of the differential growth rates of the parts of a living organism's body. The society of Chaitanya Vaishnavs, in the line of Shrila Bhaktivinode Thakur, has a specific internal structure and external shape that is determined by the body of his mission instructions and standard Gaudiya Vaishnav Siddhanta. As a community grows, its different parts become manifest and grow at different times and different rates. This is similar to the fructification and sequential growth of a seed from a sprout to a fully blossoming tree, replete with flowers and fruit. At each stage of growth, certain features are more prominent than at other stages. For a Vaishnav Community to develop properly, three essential ingredients must be present.
