University of Florida Krishna Lunch Goes National by Sunanda das (ACBSP) Posted April 30, 2009 For the last 38 years devotees from the Gainesville ISKCON temple have been distributing prasadam on the campus of the University of Florida, one of the largest Universities in North America. The humble beginnings of this program are credited to Gargamuni das and later to Amarendra das who legalized the distribution of prasadam after a lengthy legal battle in 1977. Later, Hrdayananda das Goswami joined him and became Gainesville's first temple president. Over the years that followed prasadam distribution continued unabated under the auspices of devotees such as Rtadvaja Swami, Daru Brahman das, and Savyasaci das. Life changing prasadam stories fill the pages of old copies of the Gainesville Nectar News Newsletter revealing the fact that prasadam has untold benefits, material and spiritual, and also goes a long way in simply making friends, what to speak of devotees. In the Blog World: ISKCON Bangalore Wins the Court Battle by NIMAI PANDIT DAS, belle-indifference.blogspot.com Posted April 23, 2009 Apr 16, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK (SUN) - In breaking news on April 17th 2009, in the Trial Court of Bangalore the Judge finally passed an order in the matter of ISKCON Bangalore vs. ISKCON Mumbai. He ruled in favor of ISKCON Bangalore Society, giving it ownership to the Hare Krishna Hill and the famous temple atop it. He thereby once and for all put to rest all allegations of wrong doing or corrupt family dealings among the leadership of ISKCON Bangalore. This ruling again reiterated the fact that ISKCON Bangalore, under the leadership of Sriman Madhu Pandit das, is on the path shown by Krishna, separate from the corrupt ISKCON Mumbai Society and its GBC leadership. Can we please adopt a balanced, rational and compassionate perspective regarding the recent homosexual union in Los Angeles blessed by Hridayananda Maharaja? This is my humble request. Please hear me out, and then make up your own minds. First of all, according to Sarvatma prabhu, who officiated at the ceremony, both Bhakta Josh and Bhakta Stan are devotees, and thus deserve the utmost respect. One of the first principles of devotional service is that we should honour all devotees, no matter at what stage of devotional service they may find themselves. As Srila Rupa Gosvamipada writes in Sri Upadeshamrta, verse 5:

Ganga Prabhu's Departure by Parasurama das Posted April 25, 2009
Ganga joined the Dublin temple in 1983. Ganga was older than us - at 45 he was more than double our ages as we were still teenagers or in our early twenties with practically no worldly talents and Ganga gave us kids a bit more stability. Although older and "German", Ganga adopted well to Krishna consciousness. It was hard to find a photograph of him as he was always in the background doing administration or fixing machines that us kids would break. While the North American GBC watches in approval, Deity standards are lowered (only bhoga cooked in oil, not ghee), the three temple devotees left, who have been faithfully serving their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madhava Hari, are just waiting to make their exits being dissatisfied with the karmis that are now running the temple. Besides the person calling all the shots in the temple under the non-suspecting supervision of the new "shotgun" GBC, Hari Vilas, an Indian lady who owns a liquor lounge, is telling devotees who can go on the altar. She has just put another man, who owns a chain of Subway restaurants (that's "beef") in charge of signing all the temple checks. Maybe that's with the local GBC approval, I don't know. Some time ago, this Indian lady illegally removed the temple vice-president's name from State corporation documents. Taken in the midst of flood season, late 1999, it shows a young Harish, 15 or 16 years old at the time, pushing a boat through the flooded scenery of Mayapur. What you don't see in the picture is the boat full of 10 to 15 gurukula devotees, including myself (taking the picture). Since the gurukula kitchen was not functioning at the time, all the gurukula devotees would have to eat at the Gada Building which, anyone who has stayed in Mayapur would know, is pretty far from the gurukula. There can be no doubt that a significant number of souls, whose external sexual orientation is homosexual, sincerely strive to be Krishna conscious. It is entirely natural and predictable that a majority of these devotees, as with most heterosexual devotees, will not be suited for lifelong celibacy"My view of this issue is as follows:As a general rule, we should appreciate devotees in terms of the sincerity and diligence of their spiritual attempts, given the psychophysical circumstances of their life. Lord Chaitanya embraced murderers and rapists, transforming them in the process, and we cannot even embrace innocent and spiritually inclined men-in-women's bodies, and women-in-men's bodies. ISKCON is well and truly in the league of cheating religion, for we preach one thing- that we are not the body, that everyone is nitya-krsna-das, and that therefore, bhakti is for everyone- and act contrary to it. We are definitely not followers of Lord Chaitanya, or how could we even conceive of such petty hatreds? As far as I am concerned, either I will join an ISKCON society that is not party to such ignorance, or I will not join it, (Click here for the full article) Course of Vedic Astrology By Internet by Ambujaksa (das) GPS (Vedic Astrologer) (Monterrey - MX) Posted April 17, 2009 I invite to all who wants to learn Vedic Astrology internet via. At this years ISKCON Governing Body Commission (GBC) Meeting in Mayapura, the following statement was issued: "The GBC has carefully reviewed the recent action (giving blessings) and the public statements of Hridayananda Maharaja concerning homosexuality. These remain controversial and divisive in ISKCON, and the GBC does not endorse or support them. Teaching obligations have kept Hridayananda Maharaja from attending the GBC meetings this year, so the GBC has not been able to discuss this issue with him. A GBC delegation will soon meet personally with him to discuss this issue and attempt to reach a common understanding." It will be interesting to see what comes out of this meeting and hopefully some common understanding will be reached. Wroclaw temple along with Nama Hatta devotees since a few months have been preparing a special Festival in the history of our Vaisnava community, namely first Polish Ratha Yatra- Festival of Lord Jaganatha. As you know, this Festival has a very ancient tradition in India. It comes from Puri in Orissa where the temple of Lord Jaganatha - known all around the world - is situated. The legend says that the statues of Jaganatha were made by a mythical sculptor of gods - Visvakarma on the request of king of Orissa - Indradyumna. However he made a condition that no one can see the statues until they are entirely ready. An impatient king broke the condition and entered Visvakarma's workshop.
